Women and Gender Brown Bag Lunch
Bring a lunch to the brown bag presentation and learn something new while eating. Every month a staff, faculty or graduate student will be presenting their research or projects that focus on women's issues or gender overall. This month's presentation is "Social Factor's in Women's Land Access Among Women Engaged in Sustainable Agriculture," presented by Ryanne Pilgeram. Despite an overall decrease in new farm operations, the number of women farm operators grew 360 percent between 2002 and 2007, with 300 percent growth since 1978. Using in-depth interviews with women engaged in sustainable farming in the Mountain West, Pilgeram will explore how women engaged in sustainable agriculture access land to farm. This event is free and open to the public.
