What's on Tap is an opportunity to gather with friends and like minded individuals over drinks as you listen to a guest speaker talk about his or her subject. This week's speaker is Alexandra Teague and her talk titled "The Heiress to the Winchester Empire: A poetic History of Western Expansion" In it she talks about her research? and resulting poems?about the history of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, Westward Expansion, and the story of Sarah Winchester, eccentric Victorian heiress to the rifle fortune, who built a 6-acre house in San Jose, California, supposedly to appease the ghosts of everyone killed with Winchester rifles!
