Join the Latah County Historical Society on Wednesday, July 22nd from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for “Stories from the Stoop: a Socially-Distanced Evening at the McConnell Mansion.” Enjoy tales of local history and creative fiction by authors, artists, and storytellers in our community, from the comfort of the historic home’s front lawn. Please bring your own blankets or lawn chairs, there will be plenty of space to spread out. In keeping with Moscow's Public Health Emergency Order 20-03, masks will be required for all attendees, as well as 6 feet of distance between parties. Like so many things during our current times, this in-person event is subject to last-minute cancellation. We will make every effort to keep our members and friends updated. The evening’s program will be recorded and shared on the historical society’s website following its conclusion for those who cannot or do not feel comfortable attending in person. When Dr. Frederic Church donated the McConnell Mansion to the residents of Latah County, he did so with the expressed desire that it serve as a meeting place and museum for the area’s history. This event serves as an opportunity to bring people together as safely as possible, celebrate our vibrant arts community, and show off the beauty of the Mansion. LCHS exists to preserve the heritage of Latah County, and put it to use for the benefit of our citizens and communities. We accomplish these ends with exhibits, educational programs, research facilities, public events, community collaborations, and publications. This event is free and open to the public. Our sincere thanks go to Kestrel Realty Group, whose underwriting support makes this event possible.
