Spring 2016 UI Women's Center Film Series: "Suffragette"

The University of Idaho Women's Center is proud to present the kick-off event for our inaugural Spring 2016 Women's Film Series! Join us for a special screening of the critically-acclaimed film "Suffragette" (rated PG-13) starring Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham-Carter, which tells the gripping story of the on-the-ground activists in the British women?s suffrage movement fighting for political and social emancipation, dignity, and the right to full personhood. The event is co-hosted by the Moscow League of Women Voters. The film will be preceded by an informal reception featuring complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar. The film will be introduced by Dr. Maggie Rehm, Lecturer in Women?s & Gender Studies at the University of Idaho. Tickets are $6 general admission and $3 for under 12s, with $1 from every ticket sale benefiting the Women's Center! On the last Monday of every month from January-April 2016, the Women's Center will be screening a specially selected film at the Kenworthy that highlights issues of gender justice and equity. The film line-up for the rest of the series includes: February 29 - In the Turn (www.intheturn.com/) March 28 - India's Daughter (indiasdaughter.com/) April 25 - He Named Me Malala (www.henamedmemalalamovie.com/) Admission to all subsequent films after January will be by donation. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council, a State-based program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
