“Dammed to Extinction” features interviews with scientists, experts and cultural commentators from across the Northwest. Among them is environmental researcher and Advocates for the West Board chair Linwood Laughy of Moscow, former 40-year Idaho Fish and Game fish biologist Steve Pettit of Juliaetta, and longtime backcountry pilot and conservationist Dick Walker of Peck. The film also illustrates the dams’ structural properties that make breaching not only possible but relatively inexpensive. Viewers may be surprised to learn that the LSR dams were designed with earthen berms for eventual breaching.
