PULLMAN, Wash. A hearty pancake breakfast, lively musical entertainment and a silent auction are all part of this year's Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Lincoln Middle School.

“This long-time event helps the Kiwanis Club of Pullman raise funds that it invests in our community, especially Pullman's children, said Larry Clark, club president. We appreciate all the people who attend this festive event that is part of the holiday season.

All proceeds go back to the community including the Pullman Child Welfare food bank and an accessible playground Kiwanis aims to construct at the new Mary's Park in partnership with the city, Clark said.

Breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham, fruit, juice, coffee and tea. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12. They can be purchased from Kiwanis members or at the door.

Highlights of the morning's entertainment range from the Snake River Six and the Auf Gehts German band to five youth groups. These include the Pullman High School choir, Franklin Elementary choir and the Lincoln Middle School jazz band, orchestra and choir.

The Kiwanis Club of Pullman, founded in 1922, is the oldest and largest service organization in the Pullman-Moscow area. The Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast was started in 1962 and has become a popular holiday tradition. The club of more than 80 members also runs the Stuff the Bus drive for school supplies each August.
