Name: IBEST Seminar
Date: September 5, 2013
Event Description:
IBEST Seminar with Graham Coop

Join the Institute of Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies for the fall IBEST Seminar series. Graham Coop will present his research, which focuses on understanding the evolutionary forces that have shaped genetic differences between individuals, populations, and closely related species. A unifying principal of his work is the blending together of modeling and data analysis. Learn more about Coop's research at www.gcbias.org. IBEST is an interdisciplinary research group at the University of Idaho focused on understanding the patterns and processes of evolution that occur over comparatively short periods of time. The hall marks of IBEST are the coupling of empirical and theoretical research, and a strong orientation toward rigorous testing of hypotheses. We place a high value on interdisciplinary collaborations that blend the expertise of biologists, biochemists, ecologists, evolutionary biologists, mathematicians, staticians, and computer scientists to examine the underpinnings of evolutionary biology.
